Fair Season in Vermont

The feel of autumn is in the air and fair season is upon us in Vermont. In this blog we are going to be showcasing some of the best fairs that Vermont has to offer.

bondvilleFirst up is the Bondville Fair in Bondville, VT.  This is the oldest, continuous fair in the state of Vermont, celebrating its 218th year. Known as the Greatest, Little Fair in Vermont, there is something for the whole family to see. The fair kicks off this year on Friday, August 28th and runs through Sunday, August 30th.  Friday is $5 buck all admission all day with gates opening at 10:00 am. Admission every day includes unlimited amusement rides, free track events, live entertainment. Don't miss the free exhibitions which includes the quilt hall. Next we head north for the Champlain Valley Fair, located in Essex Junction, VT, pumpkins

which runs this year from Friday, August 28th through Sunday, September 6th. The 10 days are chocked full with live entertainment, amusement rides, not to mention plenty of competitions which includes art, homebrewing, and maple syrup just to name a few. There is sure to be something to suit everyone's taste. If you want to go more than one day, there are 3 day and 10 day passes are available. rutlandNow we head to Rutland, for the 170th Vermont State Fairwhich starts on Saturday, September 5th through Saturday, September 12th. This years live concerts include Satin and Steel and the Pink Floyd tribute band The Machine.  There is also plenty of free entertainment with Circus Hollywood and of course the Racing Pigs which is a Vermont State Fair tradition. Don't forget to bring the kids to the petting zoo and of course there will be plenty of amusement rides and games they will want to play on the midway. Finally,  last but not least is the Tunbridge World's Fairin Tunbridge, VT.  The fair has run continuously since 1867 except in 1918, due to the great flu epidemic, and during World War II.  This year the fair runs from Thursday, September 17th through Sunday, September 20th.  The fair is considered to be a Top Ten Time Honored Event by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy everything from harness racing to an antique tractor pull. Plus don't forget the midway where there will plenty of rides and games to keep the kids occupied.
