Topsham

We Are
Vermont.

Topsham is a town in Orange County, of the Woodstock-Quechee region and is one of only three places in the world with this name; in all three, the pronunciation is with the accent on the first syllable (TOP-sum). The town includes four villages: East Topsham, Topsham Four Corners, Waits River and West Topsham.

It is believed that the town is named after Topsham, Maine because some of the first settlers came from there. Maine's Topsham was settled in 1730, and most probably named for Topsham, Devonshire, England.

A notable person from the area was William Nutt, a Massachusetts legislator and banker.
