Georgia is a town in Franklin County, of the Islands & Farms region.

Georgia was named after King George III by New Hampshire, which was meant to sway the king in a land dispute over Vermont between New York and New Hampshire, both of which claimed to have the rights to the land.

Some notable people from the area include: J. Allen Barber, a politician; Gardner Quincy Colton, a scientist; Alvah Sabin, a congressman; George J. Stannard, a farmer, teacher, & Civil War general; Daniel Bliss, a missionary, & founder of the American University of Beirut; and Armando Vilaseca, Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Education.
