Essex Junction

We Are
Vermont.

Essex Junction, Vermont is a village located in the southwestern part of the town of Essex, in Chittenden County. It is just east of Burlington, minutes away from the University of Vermont and the Burlington International Airport.

Amtrak provides daily service to Essex Junction, operating its Vermonter line from St Albans, to Washington, DC. At one time, Essex Junction held the title of being the location of the busiest intersection in the state, with Routes 15, 2A and 117 forming what is known locally as "Five Corners" in the center of the Village, and railroad tracks that crossed all three routes within yards of the intersection. The "Busiest Intersection" in Vermont is now located at Williston Road and Dorset Street in South Burlington.

Essex Junction is home to the Champlain Valley Expo, a former dirt racetrack that has evolved into a large event field, with stadium seating for concerts, and multiple halls that can host a variety of indoor events. The 10-day Champlain Valley Fair, the state's largest fair, is the most notable event held at the Expo.

Notable residents of Essex Vermont include: Trey Anastasio, member of the band Phish; and Loung Ung, author of First They Killed My Father and Lucky Child.
