Vermont.

Cabot, Vermont is a town located in the northeast corner of Washington County, and contains the unincorporated villages of Cabot Village, Cabot Plains, South Cabot, East Cabot, Molly's Pond, and Lower Cabot. The town has also been part of the Vermont counties of Cumberland, Orange, and Caledonia.

Cabot is the only known town in Vermont to have been named as a result of a romantic attachment. Major Lyman Hitchcock of Connecticut and Miss Sophia Cabot fell in love while Lyman was still in the Continental Army. When Lyman got in on a Vermont grant where he was the next-to-largest land buyer, the town agreed to let him name it for his fiancee.

Some notable residents of Cabot, Vermont include: Zerah Colburn, math prodigy; and Peter Gray, psychologist, professor, and textbook author.
