Vermont.

Brownington Vermont is a town in Orleans County, located in the beautifully scenic "Northeast Kingdom" of Vermont an area that National Geographic selected as part of their geotourism program for sustainable destinations. The town was named after the grantees of Brownington - Daniel and Timothy Brown, six other male Browns and one woman, Sarah Brown.

Some notable people from Brownington include: congressman Portus Baxter; James Woodward Strong, college president and brother of William Strong; William Barstow Strong, president of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway, and brother of James Strong; and Alexander Twilight, the first African American to serve in a state legislature and to receive a degree from an American University.
