Brighton

We Are
Vermont.

Brighton Vermont is a town in Essex County, located in the beautiful and scenic "Northeast Kingdom" of Vermont, an area that National Geographic selected as part of their geotourism program for sustainable destinations. The village of Island Pond is located within the town of Brighton.

The town was originally named Gilead in its 1780 grant, but when the town was sold to a group of soldiers commanded by Colonel Joseph Nightingale, it was renamed as Random. The town's name was finally changed by the legislature to Brighton in 1832.

The Brighton area is ideal for year-round recreation activities, Snowmobiling along VAST trails in the winter, and fishing during the warmer months. Of course, don't forget the spectacular display of color during the Fall Foliage season!
