Bridgewater

We Are
Vermont.

Bridgewater is a town in Windsor County, in the "Woodstock-Quechee" region, and home of the Long Trail Brewing Company, a popular Vermont microbrewery that opened in 1989.

The town of Bridgewater contains the hamlets of Bridgewater Village, Bridgewater Corners, West Bridgewater, and Bridgewater Center (formerly called Briggs), and was probably named for Francis Egerton (1736-1803), the third and last Duke of Bridgewater. Egerton was considered to have been the father of the British inland waterways system, which transformed the industrial life of the country.

A notable person from the area is Jefferson P. Kidder, a lawyer, jurist, and 17th Lieutenant Governor of Vermont.
