Dedicated to staging stories about the hopeful possibilities of human interaction; to education; and to realizing the powerful potential of theater to transform people and communities. Our typical annual season will include one original production, a small cast (cabaret-style) musical, a balanced mix of lighter and darker dramas and comedies.

Founded by native-Vermonter Kim Allen Bent and officially incorporated as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization on January 21, 1977, the company was first based in Bristol, Vermont (creating a performance/rehearsal space over a pizza parlor that is still in use today) and primarily created original touring productions.

In 1989, LNT took the opportunity to become the resident professional theater of Montpelier, based in Montpelier City Hall Auditorium Arts Center, as it allowed the company to further expand its commitment to its community.
