Things To Do

Vermont is Fully Open!

By Vermont.com StaffJun. 17, 2021

Covid Restrictions Lifted DirectiveAs of June 14, 2021, more than 80% of eligible Vermonters have received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and Governor Phil Scott has authorized the move to Step 4 of the Vermont Forward Plan, lifting business, gathering, and travel related restrictions, nearly two weeks ahead of schedule!

"Now that we have hit 80%, as promised, effective immediately I’m lifting all remaining state pandemic restrictions and the State of Emergency will formally end at midnight June 15."

Except for international travel, travel no longer requires testing or quarantine. According to federal rules, masks are still required on public transportation, including school buses.

The CDC recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated because travel increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19.

Travelers should follow the guidelines of the state or country they visit. These rules may be different state by state or country by country.

All masking and physical distance mandates are lifted, however:

  • Unvaccinated individuals seeking recommendations should reference the Department of Health website.
  • Masks are recommended for unvaccinated youth childcare/summer camp attendees and organizers during indoor activities this summer.
  • The Federal Transit Administration still requires masks on public transportation for all riders through September 13, 2021.

"I know most Vermonters have been anxiously awaiting this moment. But I also know there are some who might feel uncomfortable or who have their own legitimate reasons to remain cautious. As I’ve said, that’s natural and it’s okay. I hope all Vermonters show compassion and respect for everyone, including businesses choosing to keep some requirements in place, while they wait for all their employees to do the right thing and get vaccinated."

The Governor's office is still continuing efforts to make vaccines as accessible as possible. For information about getting the vaccine in Vermont, visit the Vermont Department of Health.
